The White House is getting tough on coronavirus with a new temperature/fever-check policy — and no one, not even President Trump, is exempt, according to reports.
An official with the presidential physician’s office scanned reporters’ foreheads with a no-touch thermometer Saturday as they filed into the White House briefing room for an update on the fast-spreading pandemic where President Trump and Vice President Pence were set to speak.
And President Trump said he had undergone the procedure, too.
“I had my temperature taken coming into the room,” Trump told reporters from the briefing room podium.
“Oh you did, too?” he asked them. “Good, let’s compare.”
“Out of an abundance of caution, temperature checks are now being performed on any individuals who are in close contact with the President and Vice President,” spokesman Judd Deere said.
At least one journalist was turned away from the press conference because he was running a temperature above 99 degrees.
